you, me and everyone else. LOL!! after research, i can see why they banned some of those combos but they really did it incorrectly. its stupid to ban a word bc it *happens* to contain slang for something. (La was the worst one. It really does mean something not good but its in so many words! To and Go were the next impossible ones!) hopefully, they realized the error of their ways. i'm sure that they got TONS of complaints!

Hi. I tried a bunch of names today that I wanted to name some of October's pets. It would not let me use these: Coral, Honeysuckle, Shelly. What are the combinations I can't use in these? Some I can guess like in Shelly and Honeysuckle, but what about Coral? And I really don't want the alternate spellings. Sorry, I don't mean to be a drip, but it would bug me no end to have mispelled pets' names.

Yes, Coral & Honeysuckle are banned. I seriously doubt that either will come unbanned, unless they get intelligent filters. Pls do not ask why, just trust me. Coral is a pretty name but it would have to be spelled differently. Ditto on Honeysuckle.

Shelly is also banned. It contains a naughty word. If you drop an "l" it's not going to be banned and it's still spelled appropriately for the name. Shely. There are plenty of Micheles and Shelys out in the real world.

On Wednesday October 1, 2008, WW revised their adoption naming filter again! What we do not know is if it was intentional or if *that* was another glitch. The great news is that the three most unpopular bannings are now unbanned ("LA", "TO" and "GO")!! For those Mamas out there, you'll be happy to know that you are no longer a bad word! Should you wish to check check the status of your beloved name that was banned, I added a new section called "FORMERLY BANNED". It is below the bannings that remain. My advise is do NOT delay in adopting pets whose name would contain the newly unbanned combos, just in case!

I have a sad one for you. My daughter couldn't even use her real name to sign up with WW. She had to use a shortened form of the name that she has not ever used in her life and when we contacted Ganz about it they basically told us to stick it in our ear. Personally I can understand their concern when it comes to pets names and user names, but a genuine, birth, certificate legal name?! I think Ganz is a bit over zealous with the name issues and I certainly am a bit upset for my daughter. Due to the nature of her real name I am not at liberty to share it since it isn't a very common one but rest assured there isn't anything naughty or x-rated about it.

i understand you not wanting to share your daughter's name. i dont share my son's name on the forum, either.

unless it gives away the name -- do you know what are the banned letters? (i'm hoping its not a new one.) for instance ... Sweater is banned bc it has "eat". So the banned letters would be "eat". If I had just listed "eat", I seriously doubt that anyone would know I was thinking of Sweater. Can you share JUST the banned part with us?

It has 'eat' in it. Like I stated, I can understand Ganz being wary of user and pet names but a birth name?! *sigh* When she had to sign up under the other name I could tell she felt so belittled and shamed. I feel sorry for any child with the name Heath, Heathcliffe, Aleathia or even Beatrice since all those have 'eat' in them as well.
