Oooooh where to start. It is great to see all of the activity here and so many new contributors!! We attended our fundraising ho-down tonight at the horse barn and it was pretty good. The only hitch was they forgot to put lights by the port-a-potties. That made things very interesting LOL.

I have a tendency to put too much pressure on myself and analyze everything to death. . .

Well you are back now and that is fabulous. We have missed you around here too.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time in Myrtle Beach. I can visualize that warm air and the ocean breezes. I am glad that you had a chance to relax and rejuvenate after all the stress of the past weeks. Decompression - it is a wonderful thing.

I know how you feel, sometimes the issues we deal with can be overwhelming. We are just ordinary people - not superheroes and sometimes it just feels like the weight on your shoulders is getting heavier and heavier until you just have to throw it off, grab fistfulls of your hair and SCREAM. But we always bounce back stronger!!

When you get that chance to go to Disney World you are going to love. What the hey - let's ALL go to Disney World. Maybe we can get a group rate.

So no vacation. She had really wanted to go to Disney World. That is the part that really was low- they even asked her what she would want. and in the interim they changed policy and she got the short end of the stick.
Meows, find a way!! Take a vacation. It gives you something to look forward to. I think that is half the pleasure, having that bright light that you are heading towards.

We were actually very blessed. Vacations are not something that we can really consider a priority. My DH and I have only taken vacation at the same time twice in our thirteen years of marriage. We always seem to be having to cover the childrens holidays or taking separate weeks in the summer to save on the expense of our DS's care.

My Uncle actually sent us to Disney World. He payed for our flight, accommodations and the meal plan. It was such a blessing!! It is not something we could do ourselves what with therapy, social skills, inflated summer care costs, time off for doctors appointments, assessment fees etc. etc. And my parents accompanied us to help with our DS's needs. It was wonderful and I am very grateful.

And the timing was perfect. The day he called to tell me was just hours after I had received some very disturbing news. It helped me through a tough time. And frankly I was starting to feel a little bitter about watching everyone else enjoying lifes pleasures.

I'm taking the death hard because I didn't know until after my parents put him to sleep and cremated him. I didn't get to say goodbye to my cat. (Just a note.. I live in apts that dont allow pets so I left my cat in my parents care).

tribbles, I am so sorry for your loss. It is so tough to lose our beloved pets. I am sorry that you were unable to say goodbye but I do believe that you can say good-bye now and your cat will hear you. One of my cats, Jasper died suddenly during the night. I went to work in the morning without checking for him and my DH called me at work to say Jasper was dead on the basement floor. It looked like he had just passed away suddenly while trying to jump up on the couch. So I never really got to say good-bye but I can still feel him with me (years later). He was a very special cat and we had a very strong connection. So I still talk to him occasionally and I am sure he can here me.

I am glad that you have the kind of friends that are there for you to help you through this difficult time. And we are all here for you too!!

It's almost like the people that make these decisions are thinking; The family will do anything to help their child (grandchild; neice; nephew; brother; sister; etc) lets see how much more money we can get. The people behind the scenes have no clue; the strain it puts on Mom; Dad; Brother; Sister; etc. I wish that I could make it back to the way things used to be; taking care of the children. When you strain the family even tho we try to hide it; I'm sure the children (whether child or adult) feel it. My brother can sense a change in my voice; he will react to that. If I talk in a regular speaking voice; he's fine. I raise my voice; he gets upset; if my voice gets shaky or I start to cry he gets upset. At one point he sat down and said; he was sorry for getting me upset and start yelling that he did not want to be autistic; he wanted the autistic out of his body. I hugged him; my Mom; sister; we all told him that he is not making us cry; and autistic is just a word that doctors use.
Yes I agree. We have had our DS in some programs and thought "Wow, they are making a huge killing profit wise". Why is it like that? You think the people going in to this line of work would be there because they are compassionate and giving. And lot's of them are but some seem to see this as an opportunity to make a significant profit. Where we live there is no funding available for these things but there is so little knowledge about Autism that if we hear about something that should be done, we just go in with blind faith and do it. Most of the time you do not even know if your child is benefiting.

Thanks dodo!! I just developed eczema on the inside of my hands a few weeks ago. Somedays it just burns. I am not liking that cortisone either.

My brothers liked the toys in the waiting room while I was talking to someone. Especially the dollhouse. We get a kick out of them but as soon as my mom thought I was too old for Barbies, she got them out of my sight. She's also trying to take Webkinz out of my sight. I don't wanna grow up. Now I've just been playing The Sims, for multiple reasons, but The Sims are more for people my age, so I shouldn't be talking about it.

But, yeah..

My son is also a huge lover of trains. His big outing in the summer is to take the train with my mother. He also loves Thomas the Train. My first estore purchase was the train for him and he loved it. It would be cool to have a train theme room and train related clothing. My DS would be buying that them up. They already have the bed so they just need to expand on it.

Yes there are definitely those days. My DS has days where he is disagreeable from the moment he wakes up till the moment he falls asleep.

I’m there with you. But today it wasn’t DS driving me crazy today – get this -- it was my mom!! She is in town visiting from Memphis and she doesn’t understand the whole game or forum thing on the computer so she keeps coming in and peeking over my shoulder asking what I'm doing or now saying "shouldn’t you be in bed!!" Once a mother always a mother.

I think this is a great idea for children with autism or other special needs. They should have easier games and things for them. Webkinz should be for everyone. But I also think that a cild with disabilities could go on webkinz jr. On webkinz junoir, everything is easeir, and it would be really good for children like that. However, There are some children who have special needs, but are in between webkinz jr and webkinz leve. It could be useful to make a section with games and things a little easier, too.

OOOO I can understand that!! sounds like my brother the few weeks; he's been on edge from the moment he wakes up; and nothing we can say or do helps He's gone back to having his "imaginary" friend with him; telling him what he should do; what he shouldn't do; to be nice to his sister and brother in law; and be nice to his Mom; she is only trying to help; etc Sometimes I want to ask if his friend will help me too; hehe.

My husband bless him; will come and get me and say, "Hon your brother is having a full conversation with himself" I said yeah; I talk to myself all the time; your just never here to to witness it there's days that I even answer myself!! you know those days where the only person that listens to you; is you; or answers you when you have a question is you

My Mom does that to me too; I get "are you in front of that computer again?" what do you do there? why do you go there? what are you saying? why do you play that kids game? you don't need all those stuffed animals; why waste your money on something like that etc.......Like you said once a mother always a mother; hehe

Sometimes I get that urge to put a sign on the outside door ..."No Mom's Allowed" (especially my Mom ) I tried doing that once as a kid; hehe didn't go over well I may still be grounded for doing that too
