Instead of getting a shower- I'm trying to catch up! Since daughter is on half-days now for a while this is going to be interesting.

My nephew wanted to get $$ out of his savings but grandma said no. He was very upset and both kids were arguing when I brought them back to my parents house. I was told I cant take them again for activities like this because they were upset when I brought them home. I wish I had the stimulus payment alrdy... I would have giving them $$ to buy webkinz of their own. Its hard dealing with both with one with bipolar and the other one has both Asperger's and bipolar. Both kids seem to get on each others nerves. I wish there was a way to help my nephew keep calm, when things aren't the way he wants it to be. I try and help my parents out with the kids. It looks like I'm going to be babysitting these 2 kids soon. My sister and Mom are going to court to get their older brothers custody changed back to my sisters care. Does anyone have any ideas how I can help both kids stay calm around each other?

I was disappointed with the super wheel myself. I got the drum and the movie stand both W-shop items. I wanted the bear tapestry or the samari armor stand.

Meowsrus I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. I'm sorry to hear no one helped your daughter. All teachers are required to have 1st aid and CPR training. They should have been the 1st responders to your child's fall. I'm probably as angry as much as you are over this. Teachers need to understand Children with anxiety should not be Told hurry hurry hurry, and have the kids fretting about getting into trouble. That's just pushing a child to get hurt.

Sometimes I wish I didn't become disabled and fulfilled my dream of becoming a teacher. Its kids like yours my heart would pour out to....and be willing to find away to make their lives better and school just a stepping stone on their way to becoming an adult. See I had a gift, to work with kids with learning disabilities....to teach them how to memorize things. Most of the people didn't want to break things down to the level the child was at. What works for one child doesn't work for everyone. I would always take the time to find what turns a light bulb on for each child I worked with.

Well enough with my rambling. I need to get to bed early....I'm really tired....to much excitement for 1 day, and I'm still sick...but I'm getting better now that I have my Central air running. Easy breathing that's more like it.

Have a great day,
Tribbles
Hey, one no matter if you plan the PERFECT day- it does not mean that there might not be something that will aggrivate, over-excite, upset, ... our special needs kids. Just like you might have a bug in your ear about something, they might too. This commercial that just cam on- a guy doing a news story while walking and walking into a sign- there ya go, that fits right in! Best laid plans can just go awry no matter what you do. to her to say that and to you for taking them out and doing all of that with them!!!!!! YA.... And don't you forget it!

But I am dissapointed for you guys over the prizes. While most places will try to do the same thing to save money they could have at least made the prizes more, um well, spread out over things if they couldn't (or wouldn't) do them as WW items. Lame (as we say here).

Hey- disabled? You'd fit right in here! If you ever find yourself in western Pa, give me a hollar- I would be HAPPY to let you come and meet these folks!

BTW have you ever considered becoming an advocate? THat would be useful, beneficial and you can do it when you are able. Believe me- we NEED more advocates. Contact the Peal Canter- they are based in PA, but they work with people all over the states (and canada when able to!). But one of the things they do is help people become advocates. I think you'd be a brilliant one and good ones are desperately needed!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a turn on-off switch like we have for the ads that parents have to go through a similar thing to do them. Would some people still take advantage? Yes, but you have that now in the trading room, arcare, tournament area. You can't prevent all people from trying it, but at least it might help more special needs kids. Hmmmm I think I might just send that idea along in there comments section.....

And I reaize that a lot of them are (my DS's teacher included) but for those who are not - why would you become a teacher?

If I did not like animals I would not take a job caring for them. If I could not swim I would not be a lifeguard. And if I did not feel that I would be a darn good one I would not become a teacher. It is way too important a profession to undertake if you are not the "right" person for the job. And this is certainly something people recognize about themselves. So if you realize you are a miserable person with no patients WHY would you become a teacher????? It is too important a position.

I am really, really sorry Meowsrus for what you and your daughter have to endure. I would seriously start to consider my options because at this point it seems that it is the Principals responsibility that these things are going on.
Oh we are- constantly, everyday, hour, minute, wondering, contemplating, struggling witht he decision of what to do. It is driving me mad actually.

Keep her there- deal with ignorant (proper definition), sometimes heartless, ambivalent teachers and faculty BUT she sees other kids she wantes to see (not all are bad), is in familar surroundings, knows she is expected to get workdone, gets used to dealing with people other than me (who is stressed and on edge all the time anymore and she can tell even when I am trying to hide it)

Have her at home- she doesn't focus as well here- too many 'fun things', has always been her 'safe, down-time' place, taken from all of the kids she does want to see, and the last time I suggested it to her (calmly and just as an idea to think about) she shook for 3 days.

Either way I can't work. As you see I am constantly on call with her at school. If we have one or two 'good' weeks and I start thinking about it, something like this happens (or any of the other things). No one wants a person who will constantly be running out because of problems at their kids school. If she was here I couldn't because she would need ne the whole day

I just don't know what to do anymore. Everytime I do something with her IEP or the teachers to fix something that is going on, it makes no difference- everything else blows up.

And to think- this isn't the half of what is going on... I just can't get it all typed up! But I will say that she got turned down for a service that would have made her estatic, taken some stress off of all of us,that we would never have been able to do otherwise because OTHER people abused their system. They even said she would have been approved had her application been sent out about 3-4 months earlier. Oh well WHatcha gonna do?

Paperbutterfly- I am so sorry I missed that. Have they found out how theya re going to treat it? I knew someone (years and years ago) who just had to take a medication twice a day and do some therapies. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I wish I could be there to help you out. Your poor daughter (and you). That must have been quite a concussion. Do you think your school will learn anything from this - NOT.

My life has been relatively smooth lately, in as much as it can be. The boys enjoyed the Extravaganza Weekend. We store hopped so they got to participate in lot's of activities. We are the proud new owners of 5, yes, 5 horses. The boys each won one in a game. I got two of them for the $1 deal and my usual merchant gave us one. She also told us that she is going to have loads of extras and if I wanted I could buy them off her to use in loot bags for my younger son's birthday next weekend. I am not sure what she will charge me but she told me they cost her $3 each. I will keep you posted on our decision.

It is raining here again. This weather is depressing. We are way behind on our Marafun walking. I AM NOT walking in the rain.

My DS has been spending more time on his Webkinz Junior but he definitely prefers the regular Webkinz site!!
Marafun walking? What is that? Sounds like fun, work, but fun!

I tell you what, I am soooooooo mad at the hospital too. I drove her to the next nearext big city to take her to the "good" hospital and I should have just taken her to the this one where they give you band-aids for gouges. It is typically such a good hospital, but I am so mad. They gave her an 'abbreviated' exam, by a nurse-practitioner (instead of a person who had neurological experience) the person didn't even know what Asperger's was!!!!! THey gave bad instrustions, whaich were against the AMA guidelines of what to do woth any chold with her kind of head trauma, 'forgot' her medications, and so on. I have a call in to a patient advocate and I have a message into the chief of staff for the ER. I know with everything else I should just throw my hands up and say "it could have been worse" but the only reason it wasn't was because I went and followed my gut on what to do and her pediatrician said that saved her from having even WORSE damage <-- that's me. Just send me to the funny farm- I need a good laugh!

Here's a lame one for you all:

Knock, knock

(now you say- who'd there)

Ima

(Ima who)

I'm a gonna end this post now

Well I am best friends with a disability advocate. Do you have an advocate in your area that is helping you? If not I know someone you could talk to...that even politician run away and hide because he means business. I don't think my body could handle that amount of stress being an advocate. I'm suppose to live a stress free life so I don't have another stroke. I'm dealing with too much stress with an auto accident from last yr. I would love to post more but I have to leave in 30 minutes for the attorney appt and I'm still in my pjs. I will keep you in prayers.

Where to start. There is not a heck of a lot I can do or say to make this better for you so I will slip into the humour mode -

A charmed life - what would we have to talk about? - Hello Meows, I had my roots done today and tomorrow I have to get up early (noon) to get in for my weekly pedicure. My Nanny has the kids so I am going to confer with our cook about the dinner menu. I have so much money I am going to have to invest in a bigger wallet. Hmmm which designer should I go with?

Sounds good to me!!!

A Marafun is something we are participating in with my younger DS's school. We have to walk 40 kilometres (I am Canadian) in 5 weeks. We are having a heck of a time getting it in with the rain though. We all love to hike though so we do really long hikes on the weekend.

Hang in there Meows. It will get better. It has too. Meet me in Grove City for some Therapeutic shopping!

I think they should have either a 'special' sections for the kids who have problems, or better yet make a whole new site. It would be nice if they kept it reallllly easy for them. But then again Webkinz Jr. might be a good thing for those kids. I feel so bad for them. I hope Ganz really does make something for them soon!

I like it how they made Webkinz Jr. and how it's simple enough for kids with special needs, but to people like my brother with PDD-NOS, it's really offending and, well I hope you get my point, that kids with special needs have to go to a site designed for kindergartners and under to have a better experience. I hope you just get my point. I know how it was really meant for kids kindergarten age and under, but just get my point.

I've been thinking about what it would be like if there was a virtual pet site just for kids with special needs. (Who wants to join me and make money? )

Maybe Ganz'll come out with a site in-between the Jr. site and the regular site, for the more advanced special needs kids. You know not too simple but not too advanced--I know what I'm trying to say, but it's not coming our right. A place with no time constraints or possibly a longer time frame so the kids can process what they need to do? Does that sound about right?

I think I get you Blackie...

Hello Everybody,

Check out the surprise I am going to have for my two DS's tomorrow.

Click the image to open in full size.

I won the trophy. Hurray. That was pretty tough!!

Here is Maggie in her room with her new trophy. It is in the front beside the door.

I hope that everybody is well and looking forward to this special weekend. I hinted to everyone who would listen that I would love a Signature Chimpanzee and some trading Card Fours. We'll see but hinting has never worked before!!

My special DS brought me home a plant today for Mothers Day. It is a lovely African Violet. I better take some pictures to remember it because it will not last long around here LOL.
