Once they got it straightened out it was lot's of fun for my boys to look for the ghosts!! Originally Posted by GlynnisI I just wanted to share that yesterday (Halloween) was our first Buddy Walk. There were games and swings and slides and a bouncy slide and Taylor Swift's Monster Truck (pink!) and a raffle. We won three prizes and one was a Webkinz Lava Dragon! Older boy (Webkinz fanatic) was delighted with that especially. I was pretty happy with the other prizes (gift card to grocery and for a massage!).
After all that excitement little guy fell asleep in the car on the way home. Between the walk and later Trick or Treat it was a very full day.
It was really something to see all the happy smiles! It sounds like a lot of fun!! Congratulations on your prizes!! A Lava Dragon - what a wonderful prize!! Enjoy your massage. update on my great nephew. His Monkey Costume was a hit at the bank and the neighbors. One of our tellers at the bank had to get a picture of him looking so adorable. He did go trick or treating across the street with neighbors that know our family and next door...I took him. I will say His mother made the right Choice...she didnt take him door to door because it was too cold for the little guy. Anyone got an idea for a gift for a one year old? I Have no idea what to get this Young man. Webkinz is out of the question..his mom thinks they are stupid. Also webkinz junior is a few years away. I cant believe that Nov 4th is here again and this kid is turning 1. Yikes im getting old...when i remember changing his mommy's diaper. LOL Good thing i look 10 years younger than my age huh?
have a wonderful day,
tribbles I had never heard of a buddy walk before this thread. I am going to have to google it and see what it is all about!!
Tribbles, it is so awe inspiring to watch these children pass all those difficult milestones. What we all take for granted is such hard work for them. They have so much to teach us about guts and determination!
The gift I would recommend for a one year old boy is something from the Fisher Price Little People line. Both my boys loved those toys and they come in a wide price range. I am looking forward to next week! Hopefully it will be a little more relaxing here (YA RIGHT! LOL)
But we were not able to finish getting our ghosts, although the girls high-jacked my account today since we were able to get the most on it, they were trying to finish it. We are 3 short and it ends at midnight, so no go. Oh well At least they were finally able to get a few of them! I just tried to get one more, but it wasn't enough.
But I wanted to let you all know of a problem with the diamond codes that went out to people. The girls were the ones to catch the diamonds- 5 of them: 1 for each of us, 1 for their cousin, and the last for my older daughter's best friend. When we tried putting in the codes, none of them worked. Little one was upset, so just in case I put the codes in wrong, I tried them out on each of our accounts. NONE of them worked on any of our accounts.
Apparently some people have had them not work on one account, but then they will work on another. We are going to be calling Ganz and find out what in the world is up with this one. It doesn't seem to be just us, it seems pretty wide-spread. So if you have any codes you have not used, try them and see if they will work. I'll let you all know what happens from our phone call! Meows!! I totally forgot to watch for your husbands show. I was kicking myself on Saturday when I remembered. It seems like all I have been doing is running in circles and getting nowhere (I just ran to the bus, and now I am back).
I did not have a problem with then diamond codes, Mind you I only got three and they all worked fine. That is too bad that they did not work for you. I have seen some people offering them up for trade. Maybe you can get some that way. Originally Posted by wontonweekly My cousin has autism and he loves Webkinz. They are hard to keep happy, she gets frustrated easily and everything is very small. It's fast paced and you spend a lot of KC. They're cute to have but for her, NOT a good game. She only enjoys when they reach 100% for a few moments and they have that party song.
She's enjoying her Strawberry Leopard and her Ribbon Unicorn. The new Pug song has been played at least 98 times today. Anyone else's kid going wild for the Pug song?
Well, off to bed. I think. Too nervous to sleep. Mom2kinzlover,
It is wonderful news to hear that your daughter has moved on to the recovery phase! I am sorry to hear that she had to miss Halloween. Thanks for giving us a heads up on the Zumbuddies. If I find one I will be sure to try it out before letting my son in on it. If I think it is too hard I will just keep it on the sly.
I do not think my DS ever plays the songs. He focuses on what he is doing at that moment and I do not think he pays much attention to the ads along the sides.
I hope that your husbands surgery goes well tomorrow. I will be thinking of you!! Originally Posted by carmel_mom We had a good Halloween. (I'll probably win in the end, but I hate having the discussions.) Congratulations to your son. That is fantastic!! You and your hubbie sound like myself and my hubbie. When my DS won the bike at the Ride for Autism I also wanted to give it away. My husband wanted to sell it. He won. We sold it to his brother for a wii. The boys have wanted it for a while and we could not afford it. I have heard that it can have many wonderful Therapeutic benefits for children with low muscle tone but it just was not in our budget. So I caved. It will be a Christmas present and with times being so tough now it will be a big help!! Originally Posted by carmel_mom Today turned out to be a good news/bad news kind of day. I encouraged them to give him extra worksheets, handwriting practice, whatever it takes to keep him from saying he's bored and working ahead. I also encouraged his teachers to take anything he's showing an interest in and make it an incentive. I'm still not sure what to do about his mouth... (For example, "What the heck is your problem anyway?" He said that to me this morning after I put him in timeout for not looking both ways before crossing the street - and almost getting hit by a car.) It can be very challenging parenting our children. If your son is anything like mine he does not care about, or understand consequences. We have taken so many parenting courses but I always find that anything they suggest works for a very short period of time. The tactic I find works the best with my son is that when I do not like his actions I always say to him, very calmly that he has lost a privilege. In the beginning I actually made up privileges (ie: going to the zoo) I never intended on following through on because I knew it would soon be taken it away. It sounds cruel but that meant I did not have to take away something we were actually planning to do. I find with my DS you really need to make a big, loud, point so he will remember and it will make an impression on him. Over time I have had to take less and less privileges away and a lot of times just a warning that he will lose one works. I always made a point to follow through on my threats, thus the dummy privileges. Originally Posted by carmel_mom I let the neighborhood kids come over to see the kittens after school. My heart was very heavy. So I went to the humane society website where they currently are BEGGING for foster parents. I printed the application, packed up the kids, and headed to the shelter. We are now fostering a pair of young tortoiseshell sister cats with colds (URIs). It's a start. The rep at the shelter said we would be put on the list for kittens, as kitten season was coming up and they never have enough foster parents! I am sorry to hear about the tough times you have been going through. Fostering sounds like a wonderful idea as long as you do not get too attached to these Kitties. I used to volunteer at a no kill animal shelter. Before kids my Hubbie and I used to go every weekend and twice throughout the week and clean cages, play with the cats . . . and whatever else needed doing. Since having kids we have not been back but I think eventually it may be something I can do with my special DS. Some of the cats were pretty wild so I do not think he is ready for it yet. A gift for a one year old- I would suggest some board books! There are a ton of them to pick from and it is NEVER too early to introduce a baby to books. They are clever and fun to share with babies too. Books are a great idea. The Dr. Seuss books are always fun and treasured. You could give a new one each special occasion!! My boys still love to read them. Heck, I still love to read them. I wonder how many times in my life I have read Green Eggs and Ham.
The nice thing about books is you can personalize them by writing something inside the front cover about why this child is special to you!! I made all for both their costumes, except hubby made Godzilla's mask and we bought little one's mask (and of course the Hello Kitty gloves! LOL).
They had a good time, but Godzilla there had to change outfits a little while later because she was worried about ruining the tail because it rained all day. Thankfully she took the switch OK and we were able to finish out the night- although at a much slower pace because she wasn't 'as' excited. ;-)
Apparently this Friday (don't know for sure) is going to be a re-cap and a proving of the 'evidence' from last Friday's Ghost Adventures show. Hubby got his credit at the end of the show, which was cool since many times the freelancers don't get theirs. We have a few stories about it and he got some funny behind the scenes info.
This week has had meetings, Patron's Day (parents get to go into the school to 'observe' for everything except for lunch time) is tomorrow, so i will be in little one's school in the AM and older one's in the PM. [sarcasm alert] I am soooo looking forward to that. The head of LS in the school doesn't feel it necessary to honour the IEP or reply to messages, questions, or what was she was told to by the head of LS for the district, and has an over-inflated ego. Boy this is going to be fun....
Little one's teacher will be out for the day because of an appointment, but I was just there last week with the Halloween party, so it will be just so little one knows I am always there for her
I was in (yes, another...) car incident on Monday and while the car is OK and the girls were not in the car (older one here with MT and was on the way to get little one), my shoulder got wrenched around and I have not been able to keep it in place. Nothing they can do, so it is only so much time I can get on line before I have to stop and I promised the girls I would get to their dailies first and foremost!
Thinking of you and I hope you are feeling MUCH better Ms. Buzz!!! Just think- time for the countdown to start!!!! Originally Posted by Electrabuzz1 Here are my boys all dressed up for Halloween!!

You are not the only one I have heard that about the Zum Buddies from. I was thinking about trying to get one for each of the girls, but not if it is going to be so difficult for them. i know they will still enjoy having them fly on the shoulder of their webbies, but it would be nice if at least one of them would be able to play in the area.
My little one listened to the song, but she is a repeater, so I left the room so it was a bit fainter! LOL Originally Posted by carmel_mom Evenin', all.

First and most important, thank you all for your kind birthday wishes. I loved all the pretty graphics and heartfelt sentiments.
We had a good Halloween. My son won the "Most Handsome Costume" (as Hercules) at his Tae Kwon Do school's party. He won a bike. It's a nice bike, but it has the handles on the wheels for doing tricks. I talked him into giving it to a charity for Christmas. He's fine with it, but my husband's not. LOL The meetings are a lot of talk and veiled insults (mostly form them because don't you know people that have NO kids, know better what to do with YOUR child than you do and you are an id**t and *only* the parent after-all) which lead to the IEP being updated or things set so that they will 'improve' for my daughter and communication. Then 1 week later- pfffft, notta. Originally Posted by carmel_mom I let the neighborhood kids come over to see the kittens after school. One boy remembered that a neighbor was missing a cat. I helped take mom cat and the kittens across the street, even letting her owner borrow the toy box that the mom cat was nesting in. I said the only thing I wanted in return was for my daughter to be able to see the kittens, because she was on the verge of tears the whole time. (I would prefer not to have a discussion about responsible pet ownership with anybody.)

My husband's a little wary about us giving up the guest bedroom to foster cats, but I need to do something. We watch so much Animal Planet in this house, but we know we can't adopt any more animals. (We already have 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 2 rats and 3 fish.) My daughter and I feel such a strong need to do something, especially after finding the mom cat. Besides, hubby's got his hobby of playing the drums with his band.
All in all, I'm trying to keep from hog-tying my son, my hubby and I are having differences about being charitable and I'm still not completely over this stupid cold. Then again, if I got more than 4 hours of sleep a night, I might get better. Hopefully I'll have a chance later this week to sit down and actually read through everyone's posts. Take care! Sorry about the heart-ache. i know when we still had outdoor kitties, they would find out of the way places to have kittens (well, the one that had kittens). I am very happy that you are going to foster some. We have done that for, basically forever, and even have a 1 year old abandoned kitty in our dining room right now. The last one was here for 9 months. That was hard to say bye, but she went to such a wonderful home that we were more happy for her than for our sadness.
Right now we have 5 kitties (of our own), 1 foster kitty, 1 fish- older daughter's fishie passed away first day of school and withing days 2 of the 3 of little one's fishies passed away.
HUGS- you need them Originally Posted by MamaDeeDee Glad everyone had a good time! I think that is what tires us out so much. Every once in a while we need to break the circle! This Sunday I am going B-I-N-G-O! Won't help a great deal, but better than not going What I need is someone to come over and help me re-organize, or at least get rid of the mass mess and piles everywhere from a little one, a hubby with ADD, and older daughter's lack of organization (which little one is cpoying it [groan]) add to that the lack of storage and you have tornado! [both sigh and LOL]
The girls now have dresses and they are very happy. But I did call Ganz and the CS rep said that things have not been 'boring' there lately. That there were too many promotions at one time and I said "were they tested before being entered into the system?" and she said "let's just say that we wouldn't have had to close the clubhouse and other problems if they had been tested properly". Carmel I am so sorry about Fantine. I know it's great that she did have a home and was found by her owner - you are an ANGEL for helping her through birth, but it is so sad to have to let them go. We had a black cat that kept coming into our home, we loved him and named him midnight. It turns out that he had a home that kept letting him outside, and we had to give him back to his owners. It broke our hearts. But I am SOOOO proud of you and happy that you will become a foster momma to other cats! And perhaps you will have a Thenardier!
The Surgery went well, hubby was released this afternoon and is now sleeping a little. He's very uncomfortable and in pain. DD has been afraid to go near him. She thinks he will pop open. She has been healing well from H1N1.
So we log on to Webkinz just a few minutes ago and her healthy Strawberry Cloud Lepopard winds up with a green nose and an ice bag on it's head. DD freaked out. She now thinks she gave her Webkinz the swine flu *sigh*. This must be a new feature because she brought it to Dr.Quack and he gave her medicine for $25 and a badge that says she is a doctor's helper. She has to feed it Jelly and Popsicles.
She was crying that her pet now has to "eat like daddy" and that she got it sick.
