I am not sure how that works on here. I am sure there are plenty here on our thread that would appreciate it but I will have to check with an Admin and get back to you.

Thanks for stopping by our thread.

If they just let that go and quit complaining they would be of better service than stalling and avoiding helping someone out. They just won't take responsibility; that if something is not working that YOU need to change YOUR INPUT....kids are just reacting to the stimulus YOU are presenting. All of you on here that get sooooo much crud....about "having to have time to attend to your child"... I can almost guarantee that, that caregiver is complaining more than they are doing. LittleDog - I often wonder what you think when we are bashing therapists (just some) but it is so obvious that you are a realist and that you are "one of the good ones", so I do not worry about it too much.

If only there were more like you!! I see what you are up against and it must be so frustrating. I definitely have the same feelings about some helpers from my end but you are dealing with it from a different perspective. Just remember that YOU are making a difference and even if just one of these therapists "hears" you, that is one more good one for our team.

Keep up the great work!!

We are doing alright on the snow white front. We had a good first day so that made up for the disappointment ever since!!

Hi Ho, Everyone! We’ve had some decent luck with the Snow White Game.

Wow it’s been a week for everyone – us included. Without going into any gross details, DS has had the worst week with his GI and constipation issues, even had to skip therapy one day it was so bad. Poor little guy has been miserable all week and it’s been emotional draining on me seeing him have to go through it. Luckily we finally hit relief today and most of the constipation issues have resolved for the moment. A lot of it revolves around DS feeding issues.
We finally were able to add some more “real” table foods to his diet that he will actually eat on a regular basis but still with much cajoling. His main diet still consists of a large part baby food (he has difficultly with extreme flavors), yogurt, meltable solids (puffed foods – like the cheese puffs, veggie chips and the sort), and Pedisure.
Whenever we add more real food into his diet, the GI and constipation issues kick up again. For those who are unaware, DS has severe feeding issues stemming from a combination of his Down Syndrome, cleft palate (now repaired), extreme low oral tone, and sensory issues. So if anyone has any feeding issues experiences, I’m all ears. We’ll try just about anything.

Wow, Mom2kinzlover, what a wonderful breakthrough. I bet you are so proud of DD. But what a double edged sword, My heart breaks that it had to come out over bullying. And I’m saddened and horrified that the therapists and teachers have such a negative attitude toward the accepting bullying. They are suppose to be there as protectors and advocates fro you DD. Sounds like they need a crash course lesson of their own. Good for your for not taking it.

How wonderful of your friend’s son to keep an eye out for DD, blessings do come when we least expect it.

And congrats of finding the Peppermint Puppy! What a great find after an crummy episode.

Carmel_mom. Big fuzzy hugs to you. What a huge emotionally charged draining week you’ve had. I totally understand what a huge decision and how difficult it had to be to come to terms with quiting Scouts. It’s so sad that it had to come to that for you and DS. It sounds like his Scoutmaster is a huge block head without an ounce of understanding in his body. I know I agonize over almost every decision with DS trying to weigh the pros and cons and how it’s going to affect and impact him not only now but his future development. I know I’ve spend many a day in tears wondering what the right thing to do is. I’m so glad that you have a feeling of relief after you decision, so you guys can focus on the more positive activites DS is involved in.

What a great feeling to be invited by another girl scouting troop. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well and that your DD enjoys it.

Meowrus, Holy cow! A crochet hook! My prayers and Big Bear hugs to you and DD. That had to be terrifying through the surgical procedure. I’m glad it’s over and hope she is starting to feel more herself. I know how those things can get infected so I’m praying for her that it all heals well.

I’m like you I hold it together until everything is over then I completely break down. We’ve had our share of ER visits (asthma attacks, pneumonia and breathing issues) and anesethesic procedures (cleft palate repair, multiple ear tubes, inguinal hernia surgery) that I can hold it together until I know DS is ok, then I totally lose it.

What a wonderful “Target” story. Kudos for educating 2 more people out there! But you know it’s more than that. Hopefully, that will leave a lasting impression on that young girl and as she provides an example to other kids she will be able to impart her new wisdom onto others.

Freda, So good to hear from you.
You bring tears to my eyes, I had forgotten about that poem, but have always cried every time I read it. But even more touching is your brother walking you down the aisle in your wedding. How Beautiful!
It’s great to hear that your husband is in remission. I’m sure you both have been through the emotional wringer and hope you some quiet days ahead of you. Hugs and prayers to you both.

LittleDog, rant all you want. Wish there more therapists with your attitude! Sorry you got stuck babysitting other therapists, hopefully at least one will hear you and change their ways.

Sorry so rambling on, get that way late at night, Off to bed, Hope all you Canadians Have a Wonderful Holiday Weekend!!

On a special note, with 1 hour and 30 minutes to spare a friend helped me replace my copy of the Beatles 'Birthday' just in time for my 'big day' tomorrow!!!!!
I had the White Album on tape, but it broke last year because I play Birthday all day on each of our Birthdays (OK, mine and the girls', hubby is no fun with it- too cranky after about 10 times). So I got to burn it to disc to play in the car- how many times does it repeat on the disc? 13 of course!

Sending lots of HUGS and PRAYERS!!
That poem is sent out each Holiday season in December by a support center in PGH to all on their lists. I think it is one of the most descriptive and loving ones I have ever read Thank you for sharing it, I needed that one after this past weekend

I am glad to see you check in, I have been thinking about you and your husband and I was off for a little while working on somethings and was afraid that I had missed you stopping in! I am happy to hear that things are finally at a more level stage, but I am still so sorry that you and he are made to go through it.

HUGS and hopefully get to see you in here again soon

But then again, things have been going pretty well for us so I am not sure that I want to part with it. Maybe when I am there in November I can pick you up your own lucky coin and mail it to you!!

We are feeling much better here but it was a rough couple of weeks. This is a long weekend for us here in Canada (Thanksgiving) so hopefully we will all get lots of rest and fresh air - and turkey!

First of all- HOLY COW!!! Banned- you!?!?! I always thought I would be the first of the two of us I agree with you, that is ridiculous, OK, Beyond ridiculous. I wonder if the word "guide" or even the combination of "value" + "guide" in the system tagged to look for. Wow. Little one went into WW last night and chose to jump over into plus while I was getting a drink. She was doing well, but I just don't want her in there yet- for many reasons, but among them is that she could type in a word or words that she *thought* she had right and get into trouble, which would crush her to get into 'trouble' in there.

Wow, just floored over that, especially since it always 'appears' that WW has such a great relationship with WI- who made the value guide most folks, who use one, use. If you need anyone to help get letters to protest, just let me know!

So did you get your fresh air with your belly full of food this weekend? I hope you did!

About the luck- i just have this to say, you can blame this one on my mother! LOL It all happened under her watch with my older girl. So this time the bad luck was either hers or my daughter's <- me

But OH YES! I could use a Good Luck Friendship coin too I'm getting excited for you for the trip. Just one question- who's car is going? Please say a rental after what we both went through

Still trying for my Snow Whites, hopefully some tonight, maybe some Birthday luck at it!

Oh you are so right to vent out about that! My daughter's MT is having to do the same thing. My daughter is getting ANOTHER new TSS because the last one (who was wonderful) quit without notice form the agency because she got another job that would be giving her benefits. But we have had the laziest TSS ever on earth before, then another (I think I mentioned her and she lasted a day, mu-ha-ha-ha) who thought it wouldn't be worth while to engage my daughter with her Transformers because my daughter wouldn't be able to teach her to teach her son how to transform them Then she didn't know what a Wii was when my daughter asked if she would play it, but then said, 'Oh THAT, ys, we play that all the time.'

I could rant with you on some I have heard about, but I think you have said most of it already Good luck in dealing with it, and remember to chant a mantra to keep calm around them

Not sure when you'll get to read this, hopefully soon- I saw about your computer issues. I'm hoping you are able to get that fixed soon!

I am also hoping your son is having a bit better time now. I can 'feel his pain' in that I don't have much of a stomach lining left due to the massive anti-inflammatories they had me on for years, add to that my 'diet' (craziness more like it) to help get my BP and Cholesterol down (Oh ya, Ms. Buzz- got it down 16 points, they told me: good jog, see if you can repeat that- go this week to get blood work done again...) and when ever I eat something that my stomach can't handle that day, or my bowels aren't able to deal with because I'm not eating more than 10 grams of fat a day. Oh, I can imagine it might be a litle similar.... I had 1 half slice (small slice too) of pizza at my niece's B-Day party on Friday and I am STILL having digestive issues today I miss pizza and calizones, and hamburgers, and cheese, oh cheese, and tortillas (although didn't care whether I had them or not THEN) and a whole bunch of other foods. Both you and he have my sympathies and if you ever want to know some of the things I can eat without issues, just let me know! I know I'm not a kid, so I won't feel bad if you don't want them or won't think he would eat what I can.

About daughter and procedure- hear about delay? I cried about 10 tears there, inthe parking lot because I didn't want her to even tell I was. THIS week I looked at the X-rays and broke-down! Everytime I think about it I get the shivers down my back and the shakes. how about that for delayed reaction? I guess because it has been a week and she has no infection my mind is allowing me to think about it. Weird!

LOL I know, but you know what just went through my head- that hair shampoo commercial from the 80's where they fill up the screen "you tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends, and so on, and so on, and so on" Fits! It is so true though. Each person we can get to understand or have tolerance for our loved ones with 'issues', the more they will also pass it along.

Meow May I wish you a very wonderful and happy but belated birthday! It's been a crazy but short week here. I was up at school again about a failed attempt at inclusion. The bullying problem in this district is ridiculous.

DD is up watching Yo Gabba Gabba and stimming like crazy. In my part of the world there might be snow tomorrow night and I swear this child can feel the barometer changes! She gets WILD before storms!

This Snow White game has been awesome for her! She loves to click back and forth and break the rocks, but the game is getting harder to find for shorter periods of time so she gets frustrated and MAD. But what a great activity for our kids! Especially the perseverative ones!

How have you all been? I've been clicking with dd so much that I havent been in here to chit chat with you!

Hello everyone!

I have a question - my son has been diagnosed with dyslexia. He has audio/visual dificulties and reading is almost impossible. I had him tested at a LindaMood Bell Center and I was wondering if anyone else has used one? It is tremondously expensive, but if he learns to visualize and sound out words, it is worth it.

Any one have an opinion?

Oh, I also have a daycare and have two special needs children when they are not in school (one in preschool, one in a transition kindergarten - thank you Stimulus Package!)
My little guy has finally started using the potty, but not for number 2. Any advise? We live in a small town, so resources are at a minimum and his mom is ready to pull her hair out.

I know about the stimming- my older has just been BEYOND a handful the past day and a half. I just couldn't even get up the energy to come in after I would finally get her down. Drained.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes!!!!

There is 'observation' going on by the wraparound BSC and MT (the only thing we could get, but budget is passed now, so.....) and the bully apparently disrupts the whole class several times a day. Can not stay on any track and will even start readng out loud- when asked to stop she has said "why? What I'm saying is much more interesting than what [the teacher] is", but is allowed to STAY in class. You know, utter bull puckey (where's the graphic again Ms. Buzz?) Daughter hasn't gotten to do Snow White yet because she has just been too much in outer space lately and it has taken everything to just get her to do necessary things.

Tonight she was working on a project for school that a 1st grader could have done well with everythign she had- it was pick 3 veggies, paste pics of them to a page and write some of the ways they benefitted you and a few of their health benefits. Like: Carrots, has [so much] vitamin A and is a great anti-oxidant to help prevent cancer and can help eyesight.

I had gone ont he net with her yesterday and PRINTED out pages of basic information for her- all she had to do was paste the pics and WRITE a few of the items. 4 hours later- me checking in and her saying "just writing' or 'pasting for this vegetable'.

it looked WORSE than a 1st graders work. She scribbled on the printouts with pencil, then cut out random sentences (badly) and barely pasted them to the page. What she did write was scribbled in crayon and SHE couldn't even read what she wrote.

Wow, head starting to ache thinking about it. We made her re-do it with us taking turns cracking the 'whip' (our tongues) over her because she was self-distracting so much.

Ahhh, tomorrow is Friday.......

my daughter had problems with that until she almost started school. With her it was that she could not get that it was her body's garbage. We told her many ways, but just couldn't get it. So I started putting her garbage on a tray in front of her asking her if she wanted to keep it. She would say no, but i would leave it. Finally she started asking why- it smelled, she was finished with it. I told her that if she wanted to keep her #2's then this was the same thing. Both would make you sick, both were things we did not need anymore, both were what we needed to get rid of.

She didn't get it verbally, but visually that way worked- if only I would have tried that 3 years earlier......

Hello JuJuAnnie!!

First off let me say how sorry I am about your Godchild. I clicked your link and saw the beautiful tribute!!

I am going to see if one of the Therapists who post here have any experience with Dyslexia. I do not recall anyone posting here with a child with Dyslexia but a Therapist may have some ideas and experience with the LindaMood Bell centre. I will send out some PM's later this evening. I am at work now.

Quite a few of us here have fought through the long task of toileting. It can be an exhausting experience. It took my son a very long time to get day trained and we do not hold out a lot of hope that he will ever be night trained. I love Meows suggestion. I have never heard that one before. My only advice would be not to push it. Try to keep it relaxed and without pressure. Like a typical child it will hopefully click when the child is ready, it just takes a little (okay a lot) longer.

Thanks so much for joining our thread and WELCOME!!
