Arrow Guide to making a great story- on WI

There's a difference between writing a story, and writing a story on WI. On WI, your story needs to follow the rules, for one. You also feel like you have to put a new chapter up soon, or your story will close. Another difference is that people will comment on your story, and you may not like some of those comments. All in all, there are quite a few differences. So here's a guide to help you out with writing a story on WI. (:

one
Follow the rules.
Click here to read them. If you don't follow the rules, out goes your story.
It can be a bit frustrating when you've thought of a plot line, but it doesn't follow WI's rules. Here's what sensational writer runlikethewind has to say about that:

Some genres that are typically okay for all ages include: Fantasy, Mystery, and with the right kind of plot, even action! I hope you find a story to write, and that it will thrive in the CW section! Best of luck!
two
Think up a great title.
Let's say your story is about the life of a dog. Calling it The Life of a Dog is alright, but that title isn't eye-catching. Calling it Fido's Story or The Legacy of Spot McKinley (ok, ignore the super cheesy dog names) would be better.

three
Describe your story.
Include a short description of your story's plot next to your title. It'll get people's attention.

four
Chapter lengths matter.
Too short or too long? It all depends on what you're comfortable with, but chapters that have 5000 words in them should probably be shortened, and a chapter with two sentences in it isn't quite a chapter. Also, putting older chapters in spoilers saves some scrolling time.

five
How easy is it reading your story?
Putting a space between each paragraph in your story is a good idea; it's easier to read. Also, putting a chapter up in this font will probably be very difficult to read.

six
Add visuals!
Banners are nice.

seven
Don't be offended by criticism.
Consider it helpful. If someone is suggesting something you could do better, consider that. They are, after all, the one actually reading your story, and maybe what they say could improve your writing. You don't have to let anyone write your story for you, but try to take constructive criticism into thought.

eight
Try to put new chapters up quickly, but don't rush yourself.
Yes, you want to get that new chapter up ASAP, but rushing yourself and doing a sloppy job just won't be satisfying for you or your readers. Pace yourself. Set aside a little time for writing each day, if you can.

nine
Read these guides!
They're great for overall story writing:

This is great! I've been having a lot of trouble thinking of a story that fits WI rules, so that really helps. The rest is great too!
