Default Contest Entry Manners (yes, manners matter)

it is important that you use your manners when you enter/compete in a contest. here is a list of things you should do and not do:

THE DO'S
1.always thanks the person that hosted the contest.

2.thanks them for the prize you one (if you got one)

3.congratulate the members who have won the contest.

4.remember to follow directions that are given

5.it is really helpful if you add the person hosting the contest to your ww buddies list ahead of time so there is no hassle. if they don't provide that, tell them your ww id

6. send the host/hostess of the contest a little webkinz world letter to show that you got the reward and to just say thanks☺ the host/hostess really appreciates that -thanks sydney88
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE DON'T'S

1.don't steal other people's entries .

2.
don't make fun of the people who didn't win

3. don't say "i wish i would have won!!!" or "your so lucky that she picked you as winner instead as me!" those are rude

4.don't make fun of other people's entries because they weren't as good as yours
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

everyone should follow these rules and make it as easy as possible for the member who hosted the contest. thanks for reading

You know, a lot of what you said should really be common sense, shouldn't it? *sigh*
It is too bad that we have to remember that there are rules of etiquette and that we should abide by them. No one wants to be made to feel bad if they lose, but it is even worse when a person is made to feel bad if they win.
These are good guidelines to follow. pup5115 I hope everyone reads them and commits them to memory

I think what they meant was that in the "Don't" section, you numbered them 1, 3, 4......No 2!!!

Anyways..... wonderful thread. And as dixicup said, you would think people would KNOW this stuff. But, sadly, it seems many do not. Thanks for taking the time to post this, as it is def VERY important!!! Rep to you!!!!

This is a really great thread. Thank you for it, and reps to you, especially deserved because you follow your own rules! I just have one suggestion for you to add - send the host/hostess a note in WW after you receive your prize. It only costs a little bit of KC, and it means so much to receive those little thank you notes in return.

I recently held a contest, and I decided to give everyone a reward even if their entry did not exactly deserve it. I wanted everyone to enjoy winning, and I myself wanted to enjoy everyone's satisfaction with their prizes. I loved hearing back from people saying... "wow thanks so much! I appreciate it!"

However there were some people who never responded to me at all. No thanks or anything. It kind of ruins it for me, because I wonder if a)They even received their prize, and 2)If they even appreciated the effort I gave in giving them a gift. It makes me think that it is not worth hosting another contest...

Gifted and Gift Guru members are not required to hold contests and give away prizes. We do it because we want to. Some gifted/GG members do not have a ton of special items to give away, and Wshop items should be just as appreciated as receiving a retired exclusive. It is the effort and giving nature of the contest host(ess) that should be appreciated.

excellent thread
I recently got honorable mention in a contest and was so happy I sent the host some goodiesLOL

The amount of time and planning that goes into hosting a contest is very consuming and I give props to anyone generous enought to hold a contest
