Default Effectively communicating in the clubhouse

I was very frustrated in the clubhouse at first ... and I'm still not 100% sold on it. However, I've decided that I can make it as fun or as miserable as I want. Here are my tips:

1) don't go in with HUGE expectations ... just go for fun
2) know values (WIGEV) going into it so you are aware of the value of things
3) put your items up first - so the other trader knows what you are looking for (food, exclusives, clothing, etc.)
4) USE THE CHAT FUNCTION!!!!! If you use it effectively, it can save you a lot of headaches. Here are some examples:
a) Say right off what you want ... I want exclusives or I want food, etc.
b) Use the smiley quickly.
c) if someone offers something you already have, put your identical item in your trade dock then click their sad face, take your items out then. That tells them "I have that item"
d) use the chat icon (green smiley by your pet) to ask "Do you have anything else you'd like to trade"
e) if they still keep putting up food or coupons -- that may be all they have. Use the chat icon (green smiley) to say "Let's try trading for something else" then use it to say "I want food". Then you can just complete a food item trade or something simple.

I've learned not to automatically jump to the conclusion that someone is undercutting the bid. I've started going into it assuming I am trading with a little kid and work UP not the other way around.

An experienced trader is good at showing you who they are. They will put up big items (sometimes rapidly) to show you ... hey I've got big items.

Anyway, I hope this helps take some of the frustration out of the Clubhouse trading room. Still be wary and NEVER take you eyes off the dock or hit accept unless you are 100% sure. There is still some risk but it does not have to be miserable.

Good tips! Here's another:

When trading, try to put up a selection of items with varying degrees of rareness. For example, I could in the first box put a Sherbet Bunny PSF, or a coupon. In the second, I could put, say, a rare item. And in the third, I could put an exclusive, or superbed. This way, the person knows you have different items, not just all rares, all food, or all superbeds.

Absolutely a great idea! I do the same ... a CSO rare, an exclusive, and something small. GREAT TIP!!!!
