is there really a purpose to giving Arte tips?

I think it makes him like you more.
And then the more he likes you, he starts to tell you about when rare items are gonna be available.
I think this is the reason, but I'm not entirely sure.

Preferred Customers
Arte plays favorites. Based on how many times you have tipped him, Arte will be nicer and provide you Insider information.

Customer Levels
Level 1 - First time shopper in Arte's shop, shows you how it works.
Level 2 - Arte says: "Welcome to the Curio Shop. Hope you find what you're looking for."
Level 3 - Arte says: "Welcome back. See if you can find a bargain today."
Level 4 - Arte says: "Hey, welcome back, if you see something you like, let me know."
Level 5 - Arte says: "Good to see you again. Have fun shopping."
Level 6 - Arte says: "Ahh, one of my favorite customers. Let's see what I can do for you."
Level 7 - Arte says: "There you are! Always great to see you. My shop is your shop."
Once you are Level 7, you can ask Arte what time sales and Rare item(s) will be available, and he will hold up a sign showing you the time.
Also note that until you reach level 7, if you are at a certain level but do not buy things or tip him for a long period of time you will drop back a level.
Deluxe Member Level - If you are a Deluxe Member, Arte says: "Well, if it isn't one on my extra special customers! Welcome to the Curio Shop!"
Increasing Your Customer Level
There are two things you can do in Arte's shop to move through the preferred customer levels more quickly, and both require Kinz Cash!


You have to buy things in his shop

Unless you buy things, Arte will not move you up his list. If you want to move up faster, buy from him often.

You may have to tip Arte

Yes there is. Tips make Arte know you more and advance you to the highest level.

Yep. I'm on the highest level right now, but I'm not sure why I bothered to get there since WI already tells me which rare items are on at what time.

I used to tip Arte to find out when the rares would be on sale, but now I save my kinzcash and just come here. Thanks to helpful members, the times and items are posted at the top of every page.

I used to give him 100 KC every day, and he doesn't just say "Welcome to the curio shop, blahblahblah..." anymore. He says something like : "Hey good to see you again!" And I think he gives more information about when rares and sale are on, but we don't really need that cause we know when the rares are going to be on from WI.

I moved up by buying rare items and tipping a large amount occasionally. At Level 7 now - are we sure you can't go down after you reach Level 7?
