After a hard day's work of assembling burgers, I made my way to Arte's.
I walked past a Husky and a Raccoon.. I've never seen those two in Webkinz World before!
The husky was as playful a dog as I've ever seen!
They were discussing one of the strangest things I've heard, a "Chocolate Lab"!!
I have never heard of a "Chocolate Lab" before, but if they're hiring, I'd love to work there making chocolate in their lab.
I'd probably get fired for eating it all!
"And there goes that bunny again... It must be Winnie..." but I'm too afraid to ask and she looks so busy....
As I approach the shop, I hear someone say, "Www..Ww...WOOOOOAH"
"Clang, clang, CRASH"
It sounds like the entire building collapsing!!
I rush into the shop and fling open the door...
I am treated to the sight of Arte laying on the floor under a stack of old spittoons and an Egyptian Column laying on the ground!
I have to stifle a giggle as I lean over to help him up.
"Whoa." he groans, "That hasn't happened to me in a while".
He stands up, straightens his fur, and surveys the debris around him.
"You know, with the fall and these Egyptian Columns I'm putting out for tomorrow, this really reminds me of my trip to Egypt" he says.
He looks at me, and sees the expression of amusement on my face.
"You know, if you weren't such a help around here, I wouldn't put up with that." he growls!
"I'm sorry Arte. I'm just happy to see that you're OK and that there's not another fire!"
As I try to wipe the smile off of my face, I quickly think of a way to change the subject.
Knowing Arte loves to tell stories, I ask him "So, what about your trip to Egypt were you thinking of?"
He glares at me at first, but then the glare turns into a grin as he begins his story.
"I was in the Valley of the Kings on an expedition. The group I was traveling with was a bunch of guys I usually wouldn't trust for a second, but I needed them to help me get to the artifacts. On the particular day I'm thinking of, we were just about to enter a recently discovered chamber for the first time. The corridor was dusty and the firelight from my torch made the heiroglyphics on the wall seem like they were dancing. All of a sudden, we heard a loud BOOM and a blast of wind blew out all of our torches..."
At this point, I am leaning in so closely to hear that I fall off of the overturned spittoon I am crouching on.
"Oh, you know, wait a minute" He pauses.
"I'm remembering this all wrong. That wasn't my trip to EGYPT, that was my trip to VEGAS! You know, they both have pyramids, travel with guys you normally wouldn't trust... I must have just gotten confused."
I'm feeling disappointed at missing out on the story, but even more, I'm worried about the bump on Arte's head.
It's not like him to be forgetful like this.
Then I notice him laughing.
Now I realize this "story" has just been a trick on me.
"That'll teach you to not laugh at me next time. Here's your list. Get on out of here now. I'll see you tomorrow."
So, don't feel badly for Arte.
The only thing that got bruised in the shop today was my pride.
