WI Members Wonder About Status of POTM Glitch *UPDATE*


webkinz cheatsWe have been getting a number of questions in the forum from our members who are wondering if the Pet of the Month Exclusive Item Glitch has been fixed yet.  Unfortunately, based on reports from our members, it appears that there is still a problem.  We have many members who have all of the POTM items except the new Carnival Carousel, but instead of getting the Carousel as their prize, they're getting another one of the items that they already have.  This glitch hasn't affected every POTM adoption, but it seems to have affected enough that we have taken note of it and are attempting to track it.
 
As most of you know, when a POTM is adopted during its special month, one of the prizes awarded on that account is a special POTM exclusive that can't be obtained anywhere else.  The programming is supposed to be set up so that players won't receive a duplicate POTM item of one they have on their accounts at the time of the adoption (until they collect them all, of course). 
 
UPDATE (Tuesday, March 2nd):  The Creative Director for Ganz' Interactive Division (Webkinz) has contacted Webkinz Insider to address this issue.  Here is the official statement from the Creative Director, verbatim:
 
"We have reviewed the Pet of the Month code, and done internal testing, and we can’t find any issues with it. We have set up accounts, put all of the PotM items other than the Carousel on them, adopted a PotM and gotten the Carousel every time. At this time, we can’t count this as an open bug.

All we can do is remind people that you must have all of the PotM items on your account at the time of the adoption. If you’ve traded, mailed or sold aPotM item that you owned in the past, it doesn’t count towards your “collection”.

We’ll keep watching for this issue in our testing, but until it can be reproduced there isn’t much we can do.

Do they take into accout all the POTM items on your account or only the ones you were awarded when you adopted a PTOM? I have several POTM items that I traded for. I love that new carousel and hope to get it when I adopt this months POTM!!!

I have adopted many pet of the months and have gotten duplicate items many times. I had to get the genie lamp in trade, never got it with my POM adoption!

Ganz has officially stated that the system looks at the items that are on your account at the time you adopt the pet. So, if you've traded items away, they don't count. If you've traded for new items and they're on your account, those DO count.

If you don't have any POTM items on your account, this glitch can't affect you.

Our reports indicated that this is a new glitch that started following Webkinz World's most recent site maintenance, about two weeks ago. If you were having POTM adoption issues before that, you should certainly contact Ganz to see what is going on with your account.

Looks like I'll just be waiting until the Wednesday maintenance is done before attempting to log in my POTM.

Sadly, Ganz formula hasn't worked for me at all. I have so many duplicates, Ive always wondered why?( some of them, I actually enjoy having duplicates)
But still: no carousel, instead got 3 space ships off one potm! (I didnt need that)

I received the Carousel today for POTM. I have all of the other POTM. So I guess it worked for me.

It should take into account ALL of them.

I started a thread this morning because I adopted my POTM at 8:30 am. I did NOT receive my loot bag. So not only did I get a duplicate I got NOTHING!!

The system of getting a pet of the month item that you do NOT already have (either in your dock or in your room) has ALWAYS worked for me.
It doesn't matter how you got the pet of the month item - whether it was awarded to you for adopting your own pet, or whether you traded for the item. As long as that item is in/on your account - again in your dock or in your room (ie: planted donut seeds in your garden), then you SHOULD get a random pet of the month prize that you DON'T already have.

As for recent changes: I waited and waited hoping to hear that Ganz had re-fixed the POTM prizes being awarded but couldn't wait any longer - so finally on Feb 28th, adopted my White Terrier. I DID get the carousel (the only POTM prize that I didn't already have) so it did work for me yesterday. Maybe I was lucky or maybe it is fixed - I don't know.

I could just CRY! I didn't get my loot bag today! I did what I was told, I cleared everything. Just now I called Ganz at 5:30 pm, I had to do my "job" first. What do you think they told me? Oh yah tough. You see I adopted three pets, one after another. Isn't that what everyone does when they get a new pets? Well apparently the system can not keep up. So they said that I can not do this with the POTM. There is nothing they can do! I don't get anything! I know this might not be a big deal, but I don't even like the Himalayan, sorry if you do. I just got it for the POTM. I get the POTM each month I always put more than one in at a time. WHY TODAY???

I am so ticked and I told her. OH and she also told me I had too many items in my dock. SHOCKER!! She said it isn't something they can help me with because no one else has called with the issue.

Anyone else have this issue this morning? PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU DID!!

Call back to speak with a different CS rep! You should be awarded your loot bag regardless of how many pets you adopt.

So do I just call back and act like I didn't talk to anyone yet? Or do I tell them I don't like the first answer?

At Christmas my neighbor received 20 Webkinz, yes 20, it felt like it took FOREVER to put it all in. One of which was the POTM. She received all of her items.

Do they really think kids or me will log one on at a time, click play with pet after adoption and then log out, log back in and adopt another. This is what she honestly told me to do.

The more I sit here the more ticked I am! Money does not grow on trees and for some reason I am obsessed with virtual items. I have all the POTM's upstairs through May. I also have a TON unadopted, so it isn't like I won't spend money on them, but when this happens I question what I am doing.

Thank you for offering a place to vent rather than being upset by myself.
