When the eStore Exclusive "Purple Monster" was released for Halloween, a number of our members wished that there was a Plushie to go along with it. Webkinz Insider member pathetictastic did more than just wish. He designed a pattern and sewed a Plushie himself! Below you can see pictures of "Freddy" next to the Purple Monster graphic that inspired him.
NOTE: Ganz has officially stated that the Purple Monster, and the other eStore Exclusive Webkinz, were designed to be "online only" and they will never be released for sale as Plushies. Since Ganz owns the Copyright to the Purple Monster, that is the final word on the matter. The Plushie created by pathetictstic is something that he made just for fun and for his own personal enjoyment.

Since running a story on Clubhouse Trade Room scams a few days ago, our forum has been flooded by stories from our members of how they were ripped off by bad traders. All of the stories have one thing in common: the members didn't know what they were trading for. In nearly all of the cases, the other trader lied about what the item was. For example, the item pictured below has been called many things in the Trade Room: a "Superbed", a "Rare Food", an "Ice Skating Rink", a "Skating Game", and more. If someone offered this to you in the Trade Room, would you trade for it? Hopefully not!
The name of this item is Slippamarink Sandwich. It is a food that can be made on a Sandwich Maker using a Bagle, Ice Cream, and Ice Pop. It is not a bed, it is not rare, you can't skate on it, you can't play a game with it, and it is NOT valuable. However, because of it's appearance, and the fact that the item names no longer show up on the Trade Table, it is frequently used in scams. This is just one of the many scams you need to keep an eye out for in the Webkinz World Trade Rooms. Remember, if you don't know what an item is, don't trade for it.

Although Webkinz Day 2009 is still several months away, it appears that Ganz is already preparing. This April 29th will be the fourth anniversary of the opening of Webkinz World. For Webkinz Day 2008, the Webkinz ExtravaGANZa festivites lasted for three days, both in Webkinz World and in Retail Stores. In Webkinz World there were Gift Boxes and Pigs in Red Airplanes tossing out Jellybeans. In Retail Stores, there were all sorts of games, giveaways, and purchase incentives.
We don't yet know what Ganz has planned for this year's Webkinz Day ExtravaGANZa, but we do know the dates. This year's event will take place the weekend after Webkinz Day, from May 1st to May 3rd. As soon as we have more details to report, we will bring them to you.

Congratulations to Webkinz Insider member chapman 12, and her Duck "Quacker", on completing the final level of the Kinzville Academy's Grooming Class. Here you can see a copy of Quacker's report card. Unfortunately we are unable to tell you what the prizes for completing the Grooming Class are because there appears to be a glitch in the system. Upon finishing the final class, chapman12 was told by Ms. Cowoline to look in her dock for a "Special Prize", but nothing was there. chapman12 has placed a call to Ganz about this glitch and is currently waiting on a response. As soon as she receives her prize we will let you know.

So of course I emailed them back and informed them that the Vanity is the prize you get for finishing Level 5. After collecting scattered bits of information and putting them together, I believe that Ganz will be introducing a new product line, called Webkinz Jr, in early January 2009!
One of our retailer members has heard rumors from reliable sources that Ganz is planning to introduce something brand-new, most likely outside of the Webkinz line, on January 5th, 2009. They have been unable to extract any further details as Ganz has employed a very strict policy on this particular announcement.
For some time now, members from our forum have been attending Ganz focus groups with some of their younger children, aged 4-7. While they have been unable to provide us with the details from these sessions, we know that Ganz has been working with them for some time with the idea of developing a product for a younger age group.
As my curiosity got the best of me, I decided to search the US Patent and Trademark Office database for any new registrations by Ganz and I came across 3 new trademarks that Ganz applied for in December -- all 3 are for "Webkinz Jr"!!
Here are the details of the 3 entries:

For further verification, I checked the details of the domain registration for webkinzjr.com and webkinzjunior.com and both were registered by Ganz in August. As of now, neither of these domains are live.
From all of this, it appears that Ganz will be introducing another virtual product similar to Webkinz, housed at webkinzjr.com, on January 5, 2009. I have no other details on what kind of functionality this new site will have, what pets may be available, or pictures of any kind, but keep checking WI for further details as we'll provide them to you as soon as we get them.

Christmas and Hanukkah have past, and the New Year is already here. That means it's almost time for the Santakinz' Workshop Theme, and Menorahs, to leave the wShop. If you still have some Winter Holiday items you'd like to purchase, time is running out. According to their wShop descriptions, the last day these items will be available for sale is January 6th.
