Re: WebkinzInsider's Veteran's Day Contest

I just want to thank any veterans for serving. You are very much appreciated. Thank you to all who served in the past. And to all their families who allowed them to serve for a time. God bless you all.

Cool! In Canada we call it Remembrance Day, but It's tomorrow. I will post my entry soon enough

I am proud to stand up and say I am a free Canadian because of what the soldiers in World War 1 and 2 did. The only reason I live in a free country is because of them. In honour of the Candian World War 1 and 2 soldiers that died, I would like to recite the poem called In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

It makes me happy to see that Canadians as brave as them saved our country. I honour all the soldiers who helped in the World Wars. I hold my poppy and wear it with pride, knowing my country is saved.

The last World war 1 veteran, Jack Babcock, died on February 19th, 2010. May all the World War 1 soldiers rest in peace.

Although there are many world war 2 veterans still alive, thousands died. May the people who have served my country rest in peace.

Think about the soldiers on Remembrance Day. World war 1 lasted from 1914 to 1918, ending on the 11th day, on the 11th hour. At 11:00, remember to just take your moment of silence to remember what the soldiers did for you and what would happen if they didn't fight for our freedom. Wear your poppy on your left breast over your heart with pride. Take that one moment to thank them for our freedom.

I think this is a great idea. My husband is a veteran he sevred 15 years in the the army.

I would like to thank everyone who sevred our country.

Re: WebkinzInsider's Veteran's Day Contest

I would like to thank my family members for the years they've served and those still serving. I'd also like to thank all other active and vets out there. You are all awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Re: WebkinzInsider's Veteran's Day Contest

Words can't express how much we owe to those who serve and protect us in the Armed Forces, and our many veterans. There are so many personal sacrifices involved, and for some there is the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. To honour all the veterans and members of our Armed Forces, a minute of silence on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month... don't forget to do this tomorrow.

Re: WebkinzInsider's Veteran's Day Contest

We must vow never to forget the achievements and the sacrifices made by those who serve our country (be it Canada or USA). We must always promote an understanding of our veterans significance to life as we know it. It is our duty to pass on the legacy and keep the memories of our veterans alive.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

Re: WebkinzInsider's Veteran's Day Contest

As Webberlily said above, our mere words cannot show enough appreciation to those who have served our country in the armed services.

Although we may not all agree on politics and world views as such, we all owe our life as we know it to those who came before us. Thank you to all the veterans who made this possible. This quote hardly sums it up:
